Privacy Policy

Values Card Sort ("the app") is designed so that your personal reflections stay personal.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party services. There is no server of ours for your data to be sent to, and we, the developer, never see what you write.

Where your data lives

Everything you create in the app, including your card sorts, rankings, reflection notes, and committed actions, is stored on your device.

Two optional features can copy that data into a cloud account of your own. Both are off unless you turn them on, and in both cases the data is held under your account rather than ours.

On iPhone and iPad: Sync with iCloud. Your completed sorts are stored in your personal iCloud account so they appear on your other devices and survive the loss of a phone. This data moves directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud service under your Apple Account; it is never accessible to the developer. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to that storage.

On Android: Sync with Google Drive. Your completed sorts are kept in a private folder inside your own Google Drive, so they appear on your other devices and survive a lost phone. The app uses a narrow Google Drive permission called app data, which can only see files this app created in a hidden folder of your Drive. It cannot see, list, or modify anything else in your Drive. Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that storage.

Saving a backup yourself

On Android, Settings offers a Backup option that writes your sorts to a file wherever you choose to put it. That file is created at your request and is never uploaded by the app. Automatic system backup is switched off, so your sorts are not swept into a device backup without your involvement.

Sharing

Your results leave the app only when you choose to share or export them yourself, for example by sharing a PDF or copying the summary as text.

Optional permissions

• Notifications. Used only if you turn on a check-in reminder. Scheduled locally on your device, so no message is sent from anywhere else.
• App lock. Used only if you turn it on, to unlock the app. On iPhone and iPad this is Face ID or Touch ID, or your device passcode. On Android it is your device's fingerprint or face unlock, or your screen lock PIN, pattern, or password. In every case the check is performed by the operating system, your biometric data never leaves your device, and the app never receives it.
• Network access on Android. The app requests internet access for one purpose, reaching your own Google Drive when you have turned sync on. With sync off, the app makes no network requests.

Turning sync off, and deleting your data

• Delete individual sorts inside the app at any time.
• Turn sync off in Settings. Your sorts stay on your device.
• On iPhone and iPad, manage or remove the app's iCloud data in your device's iCloud settings.
• On Android, to remove the stored copy and revoke the app's access entirely, go to your Google Account, then Data & privacy, then Third-party apps & services, then Values Card Sort. Removing the app there deletes the folder and its contents. Uninstalling the app from your phone does not, on its own, delete what is already in Drive.

Children

The app is a general-audience personal reflection tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
