Values Card SortAn Everyday Insight tool

Terms of use

Effective date: October 1, 2026

These Terms of Use cover myvaluescardsort.com, the Values Card Sort website from Everyday Insight LLC, including its online card sort, along with its printable materials. In them, “we” and “us” mean Everyday Insight LLC. By using the site, you agree to these terms. The Values Card Sort app has its own terms at myvaluescardsort.com/app/terms.

1. What Everyday Insight is

Everyday Insight makes digital tools for reflection, psychoeducation, wellness education, structured worksheets, and self-guided insight. Our tools and content are for education, information, reflection, and wellness support only.

2. Not therapy, medical care, or crisis support

Everyday Insight does not provide therapy, counseling, medical care, diagnosis, treatment, crisis counseling, emergency services, or professional advice. Our tools and content are not a substitute for care from qualified health, mental health, or other licensed professionals.

Using our website, tools, or materials, or writing to us, does not create a therapist and client, clinician and patient, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and Everyday Insight LLC, its founder, or anyone who works on our tools. Our founder is a clinician in training, and nothing we publish or send you is individual clinical advice.

Our tools are not monitored for emergencies. No person reads what you write in them or reviews the messages you send us in real time, and nothing alerts anyone to a crisis. Some tools check what you type for a few words about suicide or self-harm, on your device, only to show crisis lines.

Do not use Everyday Insight for emergencies or urgent safety needs. If you are in immediate danger or may harm yourself or someone else, call 911 or your local emergency number now. If you are in the United States and need emotional or mental health crisis support, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. For Spanish, call 988 and press 2, or text AYUDA to 988.

3. Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use our website, tools, and content. Talk with a qualified professional before making decisions about your health, mental health, safety, or well-being, and don’t ignore professional advice or delay seeking care because of something you read or did with Everyday Insight.

4. About the online card sort

Thinking about what matters to you can bring up unwanted feelings, especially when your life and your values feel far apart. You use the card sort at your own risk, and any change you decide to make happens in your own life, at your own pace.

The values in the main deck come from the Personal Values Card Sort by W. R. Miller, J. C’de Baca, D. B. Matthews, and P. L. Wilbourne, University of New Mexico, 2001, which is in the public domain. The youth deck uses values from Values Card Sort for Kids by Aria E. Fiat, PhD, adapted and used with her permission. It is not in the public domain, so please keep her credit on any copy you share.

5. Age

Everyday Insight is not intended for children under 13. A parent, therapist, or educator may use our printable materials with a younger child under their direction. If you are under 18, use our tools only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, unless a product’s own terms say otherwise.

6. Cost

Our tools are free to use. We don’t sell subscriptions, in-app purchases, or paid features, and no account is needed. If we ever offer something that costs money, we will show the price and terms before you pay.

7. Using our materials

You may use our tools and printable materials for yourself. Therapists, counselors, educators, and others may also use them with the people they work with, including in sessions, groups, classes, and trainings, as described on our For therapists and educators page.

You may not sell our materials, charge for access to them, include them in a product you sell, like an app, workbook, book, or recorded course, or remove the Everyday Insight name or source credits from copies you share. Handing out a worksheet in a paid session, class, or workshop is allowed. Any use not described in these terms or on that page needs our written permission, which you can request at [email protected].

If you use our tools or materials with clients or students, that is your professional decision, and you remain responsible for your own judgment and obligations. Our websites are not a HIPAA-covered service, and we won’t enter into a business associate agreement.

8. Intellectual property

Everyday Insight LLC or its licensors own the copyright and other intellectual property rights in our websites, tools, text, worksheet layouts, designs, artwork, software, and educational materials. The exercises themselves are based on methods from published research and clinical practice.

9. What you write

What you write in our tools belongs to you. On our websites it stays in your browser, and in our apps it stays on your device or in your own cloud account, so we don’t receive it. If you email us, you allow us to use what you send to respond to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse our website or tools. That includes trying to interfere with their security, accessing systems without permission, scraping or copying content except as the law or these terms allow, using them to harm others, uploading malicious code, or using them in a way that breaks the law.

11. Other websites and services

Our websites link to other websites and services, like the App Store, Google Play, and the research we cite. We aren’t responsible for their content, policies, or practices, and their own terms apply when you use them. If you download one of our apps from an app store, that store’s terms also apply.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Our website, tools, and content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, Everyday Insight LLC disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability. We don’t promise that our tools will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that using them will improve any health or wellness outcome. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of this may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Everyday Insight LLC and its owners, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, our website, tools, or content.

Because our tools are free, and to the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to them or to these terms will not exceed one hundred US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including liability for gross negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Everyday Insight LLC and its owners, employees, and licensors from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of our website, tools, or materials or your violation of these terms or the law, except to the extent caused by our own misconduct.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, except where the consumer protection laws of your home jurisdiction provide otherwise.

Before filing a claim, please contact us at [email protected] and give us at least 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. If we can’t, any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or our website, tools, or content will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in California, and both you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court or seek an injunction to protect intellectual property rights.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using our website or tools after an update is posted, you accept the updated terms.

17. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce a provision, that isn’t a waiver of it. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any product’s own terms, are the entire agreement between you and us about the websites, tools, and materials they cover. These terms are also available in Spanish. If the two versions differ, the English version controls.
